The ELKS TRAINING PROGRAM has been developed to offer all Elks the opportunity to increase their knowledge of Elkdom and aid them in improving their lodges. The questions are taken from the source references listed below, which should be available in every lodge. If your lodge does not have a current copy of any of the references you can obtain them from the Office of the Grand Secretary. Participants should take their time to carefully read the questions, circle the correct answer and list the reference where the answer was found including the Page, Section or Chapter, and Opinion or Decision or Paragraph.
Completed answer sheets must be sent to your District Elks Training Chairman no later than March 1, 2010. Those who complete the exercise with no more than five (5) incorrect answers will receive a Grand Exalted Ruler's Special Citation.
The ELKS TRAINING PROGRAM for 2009-2010 was delivered to Exalted Rulers and District Deputies at the July Grand Lodge Session in Portland, OR. This year's thirty True/False questions are more thought-provoking than ever before, and you better be ready for the participation that it will generate in your lodge.
One duty of the District Deputies is to ensure that all Elks and lodges in the District know and follow our Order's laws and procedures. This is also the prime purpose of Elks Training. We encourage lodges to use their bulletins to promote the Elks Training program. Each member who participates receives a Grand Lodge citation. The citation is an attractive keepsake. The value of the program is the increased knowledge and information that each Elk is exposed to, making them more confident in fulfilling their duties, either as an officer or a dedicated and concerned lodge member.
